10. What
happens if I do not pass the post test?
1.
Which training module should I complete?
There are currently three courses.
Please select the
course most applicable to the research you are conducting:
COURSE 1: SEX AND GENDER IN
BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH.
Please complete this module if you are conducting basic
science research, such as research involving experiments with cells, tissues,
animals or other biological samples.
COURSE 2: SEX AND GENDER IN PRIMARY
DATA COLLECTION WITH HUMAN PARTICIPANTS.
Please complete this module if you
are conducting research with human participants, including in a clinical
setting.
Complete this module if your research collects quantitative or
qualitative primary data from human participants.
COURSE 3: SEX AND GENDER IN THE
ANALYSIS OF SECONDARY DATA FROM HUMAN PARTICIPANTS
.
Please complete this module if your
research involves analysis of existing datasets with human participants and no
primary data collection.
2.
Are
the training modules mandatory?
If you are a researcher applying to a Canadian
Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funding opportunity, please refer to the
funding opportunity details on
ResearchNet.
The funding opportunity
will state whether a certificate needs to be submitted with your application.
3.
What
do I do if I have completed the course, but am unable to download my completion
certificate?
If
you have completed all the sections of the Sex and Gender Training Module(s)
and achieved a
passing grade on your post-test (5.00 out of 6.00), you
will be able to download the certificate of completion from your account.
Most
of the time, this issue is due to skipping a small final step or missing a button
on an introduction or conclusion slide – signaling to the system that the
course is incomplete.
Please
click on the course you believe to have completed on the left navigation bar –
if you successfully completed the course, it should have a green checkmark at
the top of the course page and say “Congratulations.
You have completed this
course.” If you scroll down, all sections of the course should have a checkmark
on the left followed by “Done.”
If
there are any sections marked as incomplete, that may be the reason you cannot
see your certificate.
Please ensure all sections are clicked through (on the
slide) until the course page shows all sections marked as complete.
To
re-download your certificates of completion for the Sex and Gender Training
Modules, please follow these steps:
-
From the home page, click “Certificates” on
the top menu bar – it should automatically bring you to “Learning History”
–
OR
from a different page, expand the “Navigation” bar on the left
side, expand “Reports” tab and click on “Learning History.”
-
Under Learning History and under “start
date,” input when you completed the certificate (e.g., 22-December-2024).
Leave “end date” as is unless you’d like to further narrow your search.
If
you still can’t see your certificate, please try setting your “start date”
back many years further than when you think you completed the certificate.
-
Once located, you should be able to view and
download your certificate.
If you set the “start date” an excessive amount
further back, you should be able to see and download all your certificates
from completed courses.

How
can I check which training modules I have completed?
If
you have completed all the sections of the Canadian Institutes of Health
Research (CIHR) Institute of Gender and Health (IGH) Sex and Gender Training
Module(s), you will be able to view a summary of course completions on your
account profile.
Please
access your account through the login page at
https://www.cihr-irsc-igh-isfh.ca/login/index.php
and follow the directions outlined in this
document
to view completed courses and certificates.
Please ensure that you have
achieved a passing grade on your post-test (5.00 out of 6.00) before attempting
to download any certificates.
6.
While
completing the training modules, the ‘Next’ button is not appearing.
How can I
advance to the next slide?
The
Sex and Gender Training Modules include interactive quiz questions.
If you are unable to view
the “Next” button at the bottom of the slide, please ensure that you have attempted
the quiz question on the slide.
Once you have attempted the question, there
will be a prompt to proceed to the next slide, or the slides will automatically
move ahead.
If this does not resolve the issue, please attempt to
refresh the page, clear your browser cache, or use a different web browser.
7.
What
do I do if I have deleted my account?
Unfortunately,
an account associated with the Sex and Gender Training Modules cannot be
recovered once it has been deleted.
If
you had already completed one or more of the modules before the account was
deleted, there may be a record of the completions.
In this case, please provide
the email address that was associated with the account so that our support team
can confirm and send you the course completion certificate.
If
you have not completed any of the modules or would like to go through them
again, you must create a new account.
You may create a new account here:
https://www.cihr-irsc-igh-isfh.ca/login/signup.php.
8.
Questions
pertaining to course not loading (e.g., you click on the appropriate course and
nothing happens, not making it past the intro, seeing a “circle of death," 403
error codes, etc.)
Most technical errors on this system occur because of
institutional firewall or browser settings.
For example, if you are using a
Mac, Firefox may “block” your access; in this case, we recommend trying Safari.
If you try accessing the course with a different browser, the issue may
resolve.
9.
Is
there an expiry date for the certificates?
As
of right now, there are no expiry dates for the certificates.
10.
I
completed the module but did not pass the post test.
What do I do now?
If
you have not passed the post-test, we kindly ask that you complete it again.
It
may also be helpful to review the module content once more to ensure you are
fully prepared for the retest.
